Surfside is an
ocean lovers dream and is named appropriately. Every residence
in the city is within walking distance of the Atlantic Ocean
and one of the most beautiful beaches in the nation. Just to
the north, in Bal Harbour, are the famous Bal Harbour Shops,
with Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany's, and almost
every designer shop located on Madison Avenue in New York or
Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, along with beautiful tropical landscaping
and some very good restaurants.
High rises on the beach coexist with the mansions of Indian
Creek Island. In between are private residences. Many of them
are the most interesting examples of art deco architecture in
South Florida.
The city of Surfside runs a recreational facility on the beach
with an olympic-sized pool, restaurant, and library, and also
boasts a perfectly-maintained tennis center.
Perhaps as significant as any of its attractions, Surfside sends
its youngsters to one of the highest ranking public school districts
in Miami-Dade County, keeping property values up and attracting
